The landscape in this small corner of Tuscany is one of green hillsides, covered with a characteristic mix of alpine vegetation and, owing to its proximity to the coast, Mediterranean garrigue.
At the foot of the hills between Pisa and nearby Lucca sits the magnificent Villa Cheli di Lucca, one of the famous villas of the area restored in 18th Century style. It was the home of the sculptor Guido Cheli, who filled the villa with fine casts of mythological and contemporary figures, including Pascoli and Puccini (currently being restored).
The main body of the villa houses a number of comfortable and spacious guest rooms, each with solid, hand-painted furniture, wrought-iron beds and luxury bathrooms.
The cottage contains a number of two-room apartments of varying sizes, with rustic chestnut furniture, modern bathrooms, a kitchen area and terrace. The thick walls keep them cool in summer.
I live in the main house and will be happy to advise you on questions such as, for example, where to find local, organic products, places to visit, how to book for events, etc.
